Target Training announces new Essential Management Training and Professional Trainer Techniques open courses in Aberdeen.

The UK Oil and Gas industry benefits our lives in many ways; it provides fuel to power industry and heat our homes, it fuels our transport and not least because of the hugely positive impact it has on the UK economy.  The industry has continually evolved since first production in the 1960s and in 2010 some 240,000 people were employed in the exploration and extraction of oil and gas from the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS), either directly or in the wider supply chain.

According to Oil and Gas UK, the Trade Association representing the Offshore Industry, capital investment over the past 2 years is up 60%.  However, Oil and Gas UK’s CEO, Malcolm Webb, recognises that the industry faces significant challenges and recently was quoted as saying “Despite the current upturn, the UKCS faces a daily battle to remain competitive…”

As in all sectors, if companies are to compete and thrive in today’s challenging markets, they need to ensure that they are getting the very best out of their workforce at every level of the business.

Leaders must inspire, motivate and develop their personnel into cohesive and highly productive teams whilst managers must make the most effective and efficient use of all the resources at their disposal.  Companies must further ensure that their superior customer service sets them apart from competitors.

Target Training already provides training to the Sector including its highly successful work with the Award Winning ContiTech Beattie whose continued investment in the professional development of its workforce has resulted in the coveted Investor in People Champion award.

Target Training is building on this success and is in discussion with a number of companies with a view to improving business performance through the delivery of inspirational and effective leadership and management and customer service training programmes.

Target Training’s Business Development Manager Paul Kiddell said, “We at Target are extremely excited to be getting further involved in this extremely important and diverse Sector which is vital to the UK economy.  In response to demand, we are delivering Essential Management Skills and Professional Training Techniques open courses in Aberdeen in the near future whilst speaking to a number of oil and gas companies about developing bespoke courses to meet their specific training needs.  As an Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and City and Guilds accredited centre, I have no doubt that companies will benefit from our proven and cost-effective training programmes.  Our training is not just about attending a training course it's about providing the workforce with the skills to improve and develop themselves whilst reinforcing positive values.”
