On our Train the Trainer courses in-house, we get involved in the design of training in many unique training situations. Recently, I was involved in the creation of training for trainers who are involved in Systems Training. When we deliver training on software or computer systems, this type of training is known as Systems Training. Effective training is essential for any successful new software or system implementation. When we deliver training on new software or a new system, the five pillars of instruction (Structure, Question Technique, Personal Qualities, Aids and Content) are still valid.
Top tips for effective Systems Training delivery:
Ask People What They Want To Know – If you can, send an agenda out beforehand and use a survey to determine what they believe needs to be addressed.
Establish A Contract – Sending an etiquette type list can be helpful. Reinforcing this with an effective contract can help with potential issues, e.g. phones or making mistakes. Remember, when we

One of the things we love most is meeting some great people, and I have been fortunate enough to have met some brilliant people from all parts of the globe. Even though we haven't been travelling, we have still met people via our remote learning platforms.
Last week, I delivered our remote PTT Train the Trainer; during the lockdown, this course has still been running and like when we run it face to face, you meet some great people.
I recognised a face and a name on last weeks course, and when I asked the individual, he confirmed that he had been on the course previously. He had undertaken the course some 18 months earlier but hadn't gone straight into a training role. Therefore, he wanted to brush up on his skills.
I was impressed that he wanted to complete the course again, although I expressed my concern he would be listening to my rubbish jokes for a second time!
