A recent survey amongst managers found that appearing vulnerable was one of the top fears managers fear the most.
Feeling vulnerable can cover a multitude of areas but common to the feeling of being caught out. In other words, the belief that we are going to be found making a mistake or possibly showing a weakness.
This way of thinking can be very destructive, particularly as a manager or leader; we start to create a mindest of invulnerability where we are almost superhuman, and we never make mistakes. We always achieve everything we want to, eventually!
Of course, this sort of thinking is delusional, we all make mistakes, we all have personal development areas, this includes you, me and every single person I have ever met or had the pleasure to work with. The reality is that we are all ignorant of what is happening; unfortunately, we don't know what we don't know!
As a manager being vulnerable or having development areas should be seen as an area of strength.

As a Trainer, the skills you need to develop may come easy to you, and if so, you’re definitely one of the lucky ones! It would amaze you how many people who have great natural trainer attributes don’t realise, and they also doubt themselves hugely.
When that amazing potential is untapped though, they start to absolutely flourish and to witness that transformation is truly a privilege. There are many more of us though that have to work a little harder at gaining those essential skills, and quite often I get asked, “What’s the best way to develop now as a Trainer?” There are many different ‘paths’ you can take, but there’s one thing for sure, the only way you’ll get better is through doing the job and developing yourself at the same time just like any other job or profession. Whichever path you take should always be individual to what you need and what you want to achieve from it at that time; here are three of the options:
Take another Course or Qualification – For many people,

I recently made a decision that had been long coming but took a while to make. Once I made this and then acted on this, the feeling afterwards I cannot underestimate. The power of making the choice I made created a shift in my outlook.
The fascinating thing is once this was made the avenues and roads just seemed to open up. My focus shifted and then looked at more possibilities that were open to me. The possibilities changed immediately, the choices that appeared were a lot more real than just thoughts in my head.
The reality is the majority of us stay in situations for too long, feeling stuck. We don’t always know we are stuck until after the decision has been acted on. When you get better at decision making you will look forward to making them.
The power of decision making can change so much in your life. I see so many clients who are clearly stuck in their life. Avoiding the fact, they need to make a decision, they may fear doing this because of something that may have happened to them

Of course, it is perfectly natural to want to be perfect, and I would say it’s a great trait to have in the workplace. Individuals who constantly want to improve want to do a great job and we all like working with people who want to do that. When we were young we were happy to make mistakes, we learnt from the process and never really thought much about it. How many of us got up and started walking straight away!
However, you need to be aware that this trait can be a problem too, particularly if you are constantly to over critical on yourself and your performance. We build up these self-critical habits when we are young or have been conditioned by people in authority to think like that
The reality is that it doesn’t have to be perfect. We see lots of people on our courses who get frustrated when on the course they are not perfect. Sometimes I have to say "That's the reason why you are on the course, to learn!"
Of course, I also know what it is like; it took me a long time

As we enter our next lockdown, the use of technology once again comes into peoples minds. Like many training companies, we have had to adapt over the past eight months. We have had to change and learn like everyone; although we initially went into the world of remote delivery as sceptics. We are now delivering many courses remotely, and you can see these here.
Over the months though we have got better and better and with practise and making mistakes and learning, there is no doubt we can deliver remote sessions very effectively. On reflection here are some things we have learnt:
Get to know the software - Whether using zoom or teams, get to know what it can and can't do. They both have advantages and disadvantages depending on what you are doing. The more you know, the better you will be, and there are some great online tutorials out there. Youtube is an excellent resource for developing your knowledge of the software.
When training, use the features - In particular, Zoom has some great
