Confidence
Confidence is such a vast area in all of us, have you ever reflected on how confident you are already, flipping it to a positive from a negative, thinking about it differently.
In my coaching practice, confidence appears so often. I think sometimes people don't realise how confident they are already. The word confidence is interpreted in so many ways; people worry about what the word confidence means to them personally and how they think they should be. The word expectation always springs to mind, I think if people are perfectionists, this may cause some of the problems.
The first thing I always ask is "How confident are you already?" Think about this and where you are confident. Then think about what has made you confident in these areas. You will have over life hit adversity in so many ways but never thought about how you have dealt with these areas in confident ways. A good exercise is to write down three areas that you have found confidence, just take a few seconds to do this. Then reflect on what you have written. Just noticing the words, those words will have significant meaning to you.
In my coaching practice, I think it is useful to run this exercise as so much can come from it. Until you really pay attention to this area you don't know. We all in life are slightly cautious and under-confident at times; that is life. Confidence grows through repetition but stepping out of your comfort zone is key to growing your confidence. If you don't try, you will never move forward. So many of us hold back due to fear of failure or how others will think of us.
So where would you scale your confidence levels look at both within yourself personally and then with your work? Then look at how you see yourself. Ask the question, "What would I like to be different?" and What could I do differently?". Look at yourself and how you see yourself, don't compare yourself to others look at you. You will miss the qualities you do have thinking you need to be someone else.
Many of our courses focus on developing confidence and we have a journal available from Amazon here to track your confidence.
